Dairy products, herbs, dried fruits, oils, soy products, pastas, alcohol, and coffee have been shown to worsen your acid reflux and also have an effect on your digestion. They can even irritate the stomach and increase your risk of reflux.

Although the FDA has approved an alcohol detox drug for patients who suffer from GERD, it is an extremely dangerous drug and is not recommended for long term use. In fact, alcohol and drugs interfere with your body’s natural ability to cleanse itself by creating lactic acid and ammonia.

According to the Mayo Clinic, if you drink two cups of coffee per day, you will double your risk of developing a severe form of acid reflux. And since coffee can also increase the risks of heart disease, you should be wary of drinking any amount of coffee.

For your weight loss, it may be more important to follow a healthy eating plan that involves reducing alcohol and caffeine consumption. While many people mistakenly believe that these drinks to help them lose weight, they actually cause you to eat more and store extra weight.

Your best bet is to try to get yourself into a milder, less-intense detox USA program before you try to go on to an inpatient detox program. The goal is to get the body used to a slightly less acidic diet and then gradually reduce the amount of acid you intake.
